New ASCIA tick and mammalian meat allergy FAQ

A new FAQ about tick and mammalian meat allergy has been developed by ASCIA.

Clinical immunology/allergy specialists in Australia were the first to describe a link between tick bites and the development of mammalian meat allergy (MMA). In people with MMA, an allergic reaction can be caused by eating meat from mammals, meat products and animal-derived gelatin, which can be in food products and medications.

Updated ASCIA adrenaline injectors FAQ and other resources

ASCIA adrenaline injectors FAQ has been updated in 2023 to provide more clarity about using different doses and brands.

This FAQ is one of 11 ASCIA resources that have also been updated to include the Pharmac funding of EpiPen adrenaline injectors from  February 2023. This will benefit thousands of New Zealanders with severe allergies who are at risk of anaphylaxis. Read more here

New primary immunodeficiency animation videos

Links to new animation videos about primary immunodeficiencies are now on the ASCIA website

These videos have been developed by the International Patient Organisation for Primary Immunodeficiencies (IPOPI), to increase the understanding of these conditions, the importance of early detection and access to treatments.

PBAC feedback due by 25 January 2023

The March 2023 meeting of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) includes three products that are relevant to ASCIA members - Jorveza® for EoE, EleCare® LCP for CMA and Saphnelo® for SLE. Feedback is due by 25 January 2023.

There are more than 400 accessible, consistent and evidence-based resources on the ASCIA website, which are regularly developed, reviewed and updated. Updates are made in response to requests, recommendations, changes in clinical and academic expert consensus, changes in the published literature and product updates.
