ASCIA Nurses News

November 2020: As the International Year of the Nurse comes to an end. ASCIA recognises the role of the allergy/immunology nurses who work so hard to make a difference in the lives of the patients with allergies and/or  immune disorders. As we have not been able to meet in person this year, Briony Tyquin (ASCIA nurses representative on Council) would ask that all ASCIA nurses to complete the following survey to see if there is an appetite for a virtual "catchup" that could become a regular event if well received. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DS6XGW3

October 2020: Congratulations to Deryn Thompson for her Research in Action Award from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation. These awards aim to recognise and reward nurses, midwives, personal care assistants and students who are doing great things to advance their professions, especially in the Year of the Nurse 2020. Deryn is also a 2020 Finalist in SA Health Excellence Awards: Excellence in Research and Knowledge Translation  (event deferred until 2021 due to COVID).

May 2020: On Tuesday 12 May 2020, International Nurses Day, ASCIA Associate (Nurse) members were sent the following messaage from the ASCIA CEO, Jill Smith:  On International Nurses Day I would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of ASCIA, for the vital work that you perform.  Many websites state that the COVID-19 pandemic means that nurses are finally being noticed for their difficult work. ASCIA has always recognised the great work that you do, which is greatly appreciated.

February 2020: Congratulations to Briony Tyquin who was appointed as the ASCIA Associate (Nurse) representative on ASCIA Council and the Chair of the ASCIA Nurses committee in February 2020, with Aida Ahmadie as the deputy Chair.  We also take this opportunity to thank recent previous ASCIA Associate (Nurse) representatives on ASCIA Council, Sacha Palmer and Val Noble
