Submissions

ASCIA submissions to PBAC lodged in January 2023

The March 2023 meeting agenda of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) includes applications for new or updated Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) listings of four products that are relevant to allergy and immunology - EleCare® LCP for CMA, Saphnelo® for SLE, Jorveza® for EoE, and Shingrix® vaccine to prevent herpes zoster (Shingles) and post-herpetic neuralgia.

ASCIA has lodged submissions in support of these applications, which can be accessed here.

ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training feedback surveys

ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training courses for schools, children’s education/care services and community are regularly reviewed and updated. To help us continue to improve the courses a short survey is now included at the end of the courses, which will only take a few minutes to complete. All information collected will be anonymous.

ASCIA has provided accessible, consistent and evidence-based anaphylaxis e-training since 2010, which can be accessed here.

Immunoglobulin Governance Program Updates are available on the National Blood Authority (NBA) website.

They provide a snapshot of the current work program of the NBA and priorities in the immunoglobulin space.

CHOICE allergen immunotherapy research study

CHOICE study coordinators are looking for clinicians to join them in an international multi-centre academic project which looks at factors that drive the prescription of allergen immunotherapy in real-life clinical settings.

Registration is open for the ASCIA and Dietitians Australia (DA) Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) Medical Nutrition Therapy in Food Allergy and Intolerance course for dietitians in Melbourne, 2-3 March 2023.

Limited places are available, so it is important to register early.

National Allergy Council Shared Care project

Improving access to quality healthcare for people with allergies

The National Allergy Council Shared Care project aims to improve access to quality healthcare for people with allergies, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas. ASCIA’s involvement in the project will include education and training of health professionals. Stakeholder meetings will be held in 2023.
